Two Wawas In A Posting!

In Media, there are currently two Wawas being redone! The Rose Tree Wawa has been demolished to make a new Super Wawa, and the Media Wawa is undergoing renovations. Since Wawa has changed their main color of stores, the Media Wawa is getting the new siding to match the rest. It will look much like the Paoli Wawa or the Broomall Wawa. As for Rose Tree, that store is now closed and will be demolished soon.
Part of the Media Wawa's old siding has already entirely been torn off.

This picture shows partially what changes have been made to the Media Wawa so far.

The Rose Tree Wawa is looking much like a ghost building before it was demolished. Now, though, it has fallen.

Gotta Have A Wawa!

With the holiday season coming, everyone is out and about - especially Santa! Plus, everyone's gotta have a Wawa, and that includes him. Santa, or at least an elf, has just been spotted in the Media Wawa. He was preparing himself a cup of coffee. Here is a photo of the true sighting!

Even Santa goes to the Media Wawa!

Another Great Santa Parade!

The Santa parade is always growing each year. This year, there were tractors, an eagles golf cart, and many other new things to accompany everything else. The crowds also grow every year. This parade is one that will never stop growing!

The Final Posting: A Sunken Ship

This is the final posting of the old Campbell's Boat House.  Campbell's Boat House has sunk (been demolished) in order to build the new Rose Tree Wawa. It is a shame that this restaurant, like many others, has had to close. It now lies at the bottom of the sea with The Towne House, The Media Inn, and The Little Inn. The only local survivor is The Riddle Ale House. Media has been changing recently. But it will always be the number one town!

In this picture, you can see that the dock piers are the only things still standing.

The Boat House Sinks!

As a follow up to the last posting, we have another story about the Rose Tree Wawa! As you may know, in order to build the Wawa, they are going to demolish Campbell's Boathouse and a house next door. And so, today, the sharp rocks of equipment fired up and poked a hole in the boathouse, and down the ship went. The house that was next door also sank. The all-new Wawa project is underway.

Rose Tree Super Wawa: Getting Close!

If you are not aware, the Rose Tree Wawa is getting demolished to become a new Super Wawa. They have bought up two properties next to it for the building. One of those was Campbell's Boathouse. Just recently, they put a temporary fence around it and brought in heavy demolition equipment. Soon, it will be torn down, and the Super Wawa project under way. If you drive by, you can see for yourself. Can't wait!

Another new store front in Media!

If you went to the Media food fest, and you entered it by the Media theater, you would have seen a new store! At the site of the old China Nails Salon, there is a new store called "Studio 47." (Or it least has a new name). Here is the picture. Since it was the food fest, we apologize for the amount of people in it.

Two New Retail Stores On State Street!

On State Street, in the old spot of the Media Florist, a new store is coming in. It will be called "Unique Boutique." Right next to it, another new store is coming in. It will be called "Home To DVD". It will be a store where you bring in your home videos and they will put it on DVD. Here are some pictures of the new retail spots:

Media Flashback: Retail Growth At The Media Shopping Center!

Over the course of the year, the Media Shopping Center has grown in different ways. For starters, a long time after the old "We Love Pets," a Petvalu has come! Second, after the old Tantopia closed, a
T. Mobile came. Third, after the Verizon closed, the Benjamin Moore changed locations and moved in there. Finally, once the Lukoil shuttered its windows, it has been torn down to be rebuilt into a Starbucks (We Think) and have a spot for one other business, too!

Two Fires In Granite Run Area

Yesterday, at the ACME at the Promenade At Granite Run, there was a small fire. It is unknown what caused the fire, but luckily it wasn't anything bad. Near there, a month earlier, there was also a fire at the Riddle Hospital's doctors' office. This fire happened after hours, and the cause of it was a CAT scanner caught on fire, and the doctors' office's sprinkler system went off and many things were ruined.

The Towne House's Legend Lives On

The Towne House has been closed for about two years now. And yet, it's legend lives on. And I'm not talking about the building itself, but a sign on on Baltimore Avenue in front of the ACME. The sign says:

The Towne House
Thursday 12:15
Rotary International

. . . basically meaning that every Thursday at 12:15, there was a Rotary International meeting at the Towne House.

Wawa Nears The Finish Line

The new Super Wawa that has been talked about for many years is almost finished. All of the siding has been built, the gas pumps look finished, the inside is almost done, and they are gardening the outside (even benches!) If you want to share your opinion on how the finished product looks, look at the top of the page and you can  cast your vote!

Lots of Progress Around Media

There is a new big crane at West End Flats. This shows that more steel work is coming, and the building is growing quickly now.

You can now see this large crane at West End Flats
And that is not the only thing happening,  The T-Mobile store is now open (see prior post).  And take a drive out on Baltimore Pike and you will see a lot of progress at Granite Run.

Update to 5/26 Post: T-Mobile Coming to Media Shopping Center

As said in another post, a new store is coming to the Media Shopping Center in between the Lab Corp and Supercuts. We heard the store is going to be a T-Mobile. It is always good to see one less empty store front.

We also heard that the new Wawa in Media will be opening around July 26-28th.

Something New At Media Shopping Center

In between Labcorp and Supercuts at the Media Shopping Center, a new store might be coming. Big wooden crates are outside the building, looking like moving crates. Inside, they are working on the walls and other things.  It is good to know that Media is getting a new business. I can't remember this shopping center ever being 100% full, but this could be a step closer.

Clydesdales!

After almost two years, the Clydesdale horses are coming back to Media. They will be in State Street on Sunday, May 28.  This is a good thing, because this means that Media might get this privilege more often. And that means that Media gets more attention and the restaurants will be busy.

Media Florist Changing Locations

Media Florist on State Street is moving out of their old location so they can go into a new location at the intersection of Providence Road and State Street. They are replacing the old ABA2DAY Behavioral Services place. We wish them well! One good thing about this change is that it gives the chance for a new restaurant or store on State Street . . .

This is the old Media Florist Location on State Street.

This is an image of the new Media Florist location.   If you look closely, you will see their name on the sign.

Gulf Station Coming Soon

The Getty on Baltimore Pike is now going to become a Gulf. Pasted on all of the gas pumps is a sign that says "We're Going Gulf." The Gulf's main course of business is probably going to be the Wawa overflow, unless they have better prices!

This is a "Going Gulf" sign pasted on the old Getty mart sign.

These are the "Going Gulf" signs on the gas pumps.

Also, the Wawa gas price sign is now built.  You can see it in the background of this picture.

Burlap And Bean Now Open

Burlap And Bean's new Media location is now open. It is located on the west end of Media by West End Flats and West End Walk. In the location of Golden Impulse (which moved across the street) is Scooped homemade ice cream.

Springtime in Media

Today (Sunday April 2) was a warm and sunny day.  It seemed like everyone was outside doing something.  We were on the Chester Creek Trail, and it was as busy as parts of the Ridley Creek State Park five mile loop.  Yes, it was busy!

We didn't take any good pictures, but we did take this one of Pinocchios in town.  They are putting the outside deck back up at the far end of the parking lot.  They also have live music out there sometimes.  Some other good places to eat outside are Iron Hill, Seven Stones, and now Brick & Brew (we have never eaten outside there, though).

Activity Around Town

There are many projects that are in progress:

The Burlap & Bean coffee shop will be done soon.

They have officially torn down the Lukoil and are now grading the site.

There is a lot of concrete work at the site of the new West End Flats.

They have completed the frame of the first two homes at West End Walk and are going to start doing siding soon.

The fence has fallen down at the site of the future Hampton Inn.
There has been a lot of progress at the Wawa. It is scheduled to open this Spring.

DEMOLITION !!!

The old Lukoil is being torn down. Though we don't know what's going in, we have heard that it might be a new, bigger Starbucks with a drive-thru. But that might be incorrect, since we also heard a rumor going around that a Starbucks might be going into the parking lot of the Springfield Mall.  That one is also rumored to have a drive-thru.

Demolition of old Lukoil on Tuesday February 21

They have been moving quickly at the site.  It has been closed less than one month.

Meanwhile, the new Wawa is also moving along quickly.

Progress At The Wawa

There has been some new progress at the new Wawa site. The steel frame has started and they have a crane. Although the ground work was slow, the building is going to be going up much faster, and most likely achieve its spring-opening goal.

Progress at the Super Wawa

Look at these pictures from Saturday February 11.  If you look closely you can see some of the steel beams.  Also, there is a new sidewalk on Providence Road.

Large steel beams are on the worksite.

CLOSED!

It is February, and the Lukoil is now closed.  If we hear more about what is coming next, we will let you know.  A bigger Starbucks?

The Lukoil station is officially closed

Construction at West End Walk

The construction workers were busy today on West End Walk.  You can now see the framing of the first units at the site.

View of West End Walk from Baltimore Pike.

This part of the project has happened very quickly.

You can see other concrete foundations where they will probably start building on soon.

Rose Tree Wawa Now Open!

The Rose Tree Wawa on Providence road is now open! It is Media's third Wawa. The original was one the first Wawas ever to be built. Even...
